Grade 2 Curriculum

Tutoring in Grade 2 Math, Language, and Science in alignment with the Ontario curriculum guidelines.

  • Number Sense:

    1. Understanding numbers up to 100

    2. Addition/subtraction of two-digit numbers

    3. Skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s

    4. Recognizing even and odd numbers.

  • Algebra:

    1. Extending and creating more complex patterns,

    2. Solving simple problems involving equality

  • Geometry and Spatial Sense:

    1. Attributes of 2D/3D objects

    2. Symmetry and spatial reasoning

  • Measurement:

    1. Standard units of measurement

    2. Telling time to the nearest five minutes

    3. Money (coins and bills)

  • Data:
    Collecting, organizing, and interpreting data using bar graphs and pictographs.

    1. Developing fluency in reading with more complex texts

    2. Building comprehension skills

    3. Identifying story elements (characters, settings, events).

  • Writing:

    1. Writing structured sentences and short paragraphs with proper punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary

    2. Exploring narrative, descriptive, and simple opinion writing

  • Understanding Life Systems:
    Learning about growth and changes in animals, life cycles, and how animals adapt to different environments.

  • Understanding Matter and Energy: Exploring properties of liquids and solids, simple changes in states of matter (melting, freezing).

  • Understanding Earth and Space Systems:
    Investigating air and water in the environment, understanding their uses, and discussing environmental impacts.
